The first time we went for a site inspection was also the last time we saw the Vietnam Post Office in its original form, though a bit disordered and worn.
Change is an inevitable part of society, but we wish there could be a more respectful way to treat what once was.
The main counter area, in many ways, still stands where the old parcel counter used to be — facing Nguyễn Du Street, with wide windows opening to the lively street life outside. Somewhere within, traces of the old ways of living still linger across the main façade, stretching through the entire space.
We want the brand’s DNA to be preserved, yet the building should not stand apart from its urban surroundings.
The memory of the Post Office, when recalled, should remain beautiful — so that the space continues to feel like a place where people truly belong.
