A two-bedroom apartment with a compact footprint of just 50 square metres is designed to accommodate a family of three. The design strategy prioritises minimal intervention with maximum impact, optimising spatial efficiency while limiting structural changes. Angled 45-degree lines are introduced into the plan to strategically expand necessary areas and compress residual, underutilised spaces.
Geometric restraint—through a clear emphasis on lines and volumes—enhances the perceived spaciousness and softens the inherent compactness of the original layout.
A coherent circulation spine operates as an implicit spatial boundary, subtly defining zones and creating buffer spaces—an uncommon luxury in small-scale apartments—allowing functional areas to coexist without encroaching on one another.
